Camp Favorite: Gak at Home!
At North Shore Day Camp, our campers have a blast in our Wonderworks club activity – Wonderworks means experiments, artistic creations and, oh, so much fun! We love making Gak in camp, so we figured why not have you try it at home? Here’s our Gak recipe, so now you can create some of the fun of North Shore Day Camp right in your very own home!
You’ll Need:
- 1 Cup of Clear or White School Glue
- Water
- Food Coloring (optional)
- 1 Teaspoon Borax Powder (found in the laundry detergent isle in your store)
- Two Bowls
- Hands for Mixing!
Bowl #1: Pour 1 Cup of glue into a medium mixing bowl. Add ¼ Cup of warm water and mix. Add 2 drops of food coloring.
Bowl #2: mix ½ Cup warm water and 1 teaspoon of borax powder to the water. (It’s ok if it doesn’t dissolve all of the way…)
Slowly add Bowl #2 to Bowl #1. Getting gooey, right? Keep adding and mixing, mixing, mixing until your gak feels perfect! Oh yeah, it’s a MUST to mix with your hands. I can’t think of a better way, can you? Try taking a straw and blowing the Gak into large bubble balloons too! There’s so much you can do with Gak!
And there you have it! A bit of North Shore Day Camp fun right in your own home!
