Get to Know Our Staff! Swim & Athletics
Over the last few weeks we’ve been introducing you to the various people who meet & greet your children every day here at North Shore Day Camp to ensure that your children are having a fabulous day – each and every day while at camp! We first introduced you to our Division Leaders (“Get to Know Our Staff – Division Leaders”) and followed up with our Get to Know Our Support Staff. Today, we’d like to introduce our Swim & Athletics Staff to you!
Stu Karp, Aquatics Director
This will be Stu’s 14th summer at NSDC. Stu is recognized throughout Long Island for his expertise in every area of aquatics He teaches lifeguard training, lifeguard management, water safety and first aid/CPR for the Red Cross and frequently lectures at the American Camp Association Tri-State Camp Conference. “I hope the campers will all learn to swim or learn to swim better than they did in the past. We’re going to have a great time at NSDC!”
Eric Heischober, Assistant Aquatics Director
Eric has been a part of the swim staff for 8 years. During the school year he is a physical education teacher in New York City and owns a private swim school. “My goal is to see each and every child reaches his/her potential at swim.”
Abbe Sargeant, Assistant Aquatics Director
This is Abbe’s third summer at North Shore Day Camp. During the year she is a supervisor for a pre-school swim program in Commack and a substitute physical education teacher. “Swimming is a life skill that can be taught at any age. I hope to share my passion for the water with all the campers.”
Jennifer Krakower, Assistant Aquatics Director
This is Jennifer’s 7th year with us. She has actually been with our family of TLC camps since she was 4½. During the year Jennifer teaches Special Education in Woodside, Queens. “I wish all of our campers a ‘swimtastic’ and fun-filled summer.”
Steve Cacioppo, Athletic Director
This is Steve’s 5th year as Athletic Director following eight years directing our dynamic Adventure Program consisting of high and low ropes, zip line, climbing walls, mountain bike course, go cart track and spider web. During the year he is a Physical Education teacher at Cold Spring Harbor High School, teaching grades 7–12 and coaching girls’ varsity soccer, basketball and softball. “I am extremely excited to be a part of the leadership team at NSDC. My love of working with children and sports is cheerfully reflected in my role at camp.”
